PROFESSIONAL ENGAGEMENT
The role of a teacher goes far beyond the classroom. Over the last four years I have demonstrated a commitment and capacity to actively contribute to a broad range of school community activities. I also continually reflect on, evaluate and improve my professional knowledge and practice.‘Jessica is a highly committed pre-service teacher, who has a strong desire to learn and improve her skills and knowledge about teaching. She is open to feedback and responds positively to advice’ – Anita Bradshaw supervising teacher. This Action Research Model was used as I undertook a reflective audit of my attributes in relation to the seven AITSL Graduate Standards. I identified two attributes for development over the year and formulated a plan of action. |
Teachers model effective learning. They identify their own learning needs and analyse, evaluate and expand their professional learning, both collegially and individually.
Teachers demonstrate respect and professionalism in all their interactions with students, colleagues, parents/carers and the community. They are sensitive to the needs of parents/carers and can communicate effectively with them about their children's learning. Teachers value opportunities to engage with their school communities within and beyond the classroom to enrich the educational context for students. They understand the links between school, home and community in the social and intellectual development of their students. Australian Professional Standards for Teachers: Standard 6: Engage in professional learning Standard 7: Engage professionally with colleagues, parents/carers and the community
